Non-traditional Christmas

October 3rd, 2011 crftyjh 2 comments

We usually think of red and green for Christmas items.  I thought I’d try some different colors to see how they work.  The beige, cranberry, and forest green gives an oldtime antiquish look.  Paper is BoBunny and Stamp Express.  Stamp is from JustRite, and dies are Spellbinders Nestabilities.  Of course, cranberry, forest, and beige are just various shades of red, green and white.

The warmest wishes card uses pink, lime and white.  Again it is a matter of shades of the red and green.  Stamp is JustRite, paper from BoBunny and Stamp Express.  The embossed part uses C’ordinations with a Cuttlebug folder and then sanded.  Ovals are Nesties and buttons from my stash.

Finally, the shaped card (using Nesties) is all aqua and green with white accents.  The ornaments are JustRite cling stamps, paper is BoBunny and Stamp Express, ink from Memento by Tsukineko.  All supplies are available at www.stampexpressstore.com.  Order now and use your 10% off coupon for October.

Happy Fall Y’all!

The fall stamps from JustRite are all so super I couldn’t make up my mind on what to do first.  Here’s what I came up with for some of them.  I’m still coloring others so stay tuned!  All are colored with Copic markers and mounted on various circles from Spellbinders nestabilities.  Solid cardstock is C’ordinations and Stamp Express quality cardstock.  Designer papers are from BoBunny.  All the papers, markers and stamps are for sale right now at www.stampexpressstore.com.  Diecuts on the scrapbook page are Sizzix, flowers are Prima and ribbon is from my stash.  A little Stickles brightened up the jack-o’lantern eyes.  What fun these were to make.  Try them.

Apple Love Notes

August 30th, 2011 crftyjh 4 comments

How cute are these apple cards?  Tuck one in your child’s lunch box.  Or give a homebaked gift to the teacher with one of these notes enclosed.  Send one to someone who is the apple of your eye.  Or add one to a scrapbook page with a photo inside.  Packs of 6 are now available at www.stampexpressstore.com.  On the pie card I marbleized the apple with the cube from Stampendous.  The teacher stamp is from JustRite.  I’m not sure about the pie, but think it’s Impression Obsession.  Circles and bite marks were cut with Nesties from Spellbinders.  And coloring was done with Copic markers.  Try making an apple a day and keep the blues away!

Fall Colors

August 24th, 2011 crftyjh 1 comment

The new double-sided papers for fall and winter arrived from BoBunny.  I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them.  So I’m rushing the season, but here’s a card for my son’s fall birthday.  I’ve noticed that everyone is combining printed decorator papers.  I used two different designs on this card.  Then I embellished with Stamp Express quality cardstocks in three colors.  The half scalloped circle is a Nestie cut in half.  I don’t know whose stamp this is.  It’s old and may be Inkadinkadoo.  The hardest part of the whole card was threading the embroidery floss through the buttons.  But, you can’t have naked buttons!  I colored the stamped image with Copic markers to match the papers.  The NEW BoBunny papers are now available on our website (www.stampexpressstore.com)

With Sympathy

July 20th, 2011 crftyjh No comments

I dread making sympathy cards, but they are a necessary message to send. Our friend Susan West passed away this week, and we want to let the family know that we are thinking of them. I did have the dogwood flower stamped and colored with Copic markers and layered on diecut Nestabilities, so assembling the card was not too difficult. The stamp is from JustRite. Their flower stamps are perfect for any occasion. The embossed strip was done with a Cuttlebug embossing folder on Colorcore cardstock and then sanded to bring out the design. Background designer paper is from BoBunny, the word stamp from Hero Arts, and the decorative swirls from Spellbinders tag dies. Now I’m going to bake something to take along with the card and offer my condolences. A good idea would be to make up several of these cards ahead of time to have on hand, but I just can’t seem to do it. If you need the products, they are all available at our on-line store.

Seashells

She sells seashells by the seashore. This is the theme for a beach motif we have planned for the Hagerstown SDV in August. The seashell stamp is from JustRite and colored with Copic markers. The ovals are cut out with Nestabilities from Spellbinders. The background paper is from BoBunny while the plain cardstocks are the Stamp Express quality cardstock. I made the flourishes by diecutting labels from Spellbinders and then cutting them in half. I glued one half to each side of the larger layered pieces. Come to the show and do this project as a FREE make it/ take/it. Learn how to color with Copics!

Swing Card

July 5th, 2011 crftyjh 5 comments

When you want something different, try a swing or telescoping card. Cut three identical shapes and place a different message on each one. Then join them together with brads or eyelets so that they can swing together on top of each other or open up to reveal all the messages at once. This one has a birthday theme. Stamps are from JustRite, Printworks, and the Stamp Barn. The cardstock is Stamp Express quality cardstock, the coloring was done with Copic markers, and the brads and ribbon are from my stash. A photo could be adhered to one of the circles and then the bottom layer glued to a scrapbook page for an added feature in a memory album. My circles were cut with Nestabilities. All materials are available at stampexpressstore.com.

Ahoy There

I was so excited to use the NEW BoBunny designer paper with the patriotic theme. I made a birthday card for my brother-in-law with a masculine look. I used Navy quality cardstock for the card base. The layer is the designer paper from BoBunny. I cut the pennants myself and stamped with an alphabet set from Impression Obsession. ( make a pattern for the pennant so they all come out the same.) After stringing the penants across the top of the card, I added a layered sailboat image from JustRite. This was colored with Copic markers and cut out with Nestabilities. To finish it off I handcut photo corners layered and accented with a blue button. Inside I put a white piece of cardstock with Happy Birthday and some seagulls all in blue ink. I hope he enjoys it! You can get all the supplies to make your own from stampexpressstore.com and click on store.

It’s Summer

June 15th, 2011 crftyjh 3 comments

Summertime flowers are blooming! These JustRite stamps partner with the Nestabilities to make wonderful summertime cards. Stamp and color the flowers with Copic markers. Then cut them out with the oval Nesties. To make them more appealing, layer them on other sizes of ovals and you have a great summertime message. I made these for my daughter-in-law who is recovering from an appendectomy and my friend who just had back surgery. I hope they brighten their recovery periods. Cardstock is our own quality cardstock and the designer papers are from BoBunny. These are all available at our on-line store, as well as the stamps. We’re open 24/7 every “bloomin’” day!

A Shore Thing

June 7th, 2011 crftyjh 2 comments

As summer approaches and you head to the beach, take along some cards to send home. Or use these on a scrapbook page with a seaside photo inside. Stamp Express now has seashell cards by the package at the on-line store. And many stamp companies have nautical images to feature on the front. On the blue card I used BoBunny designer paper with a stamped and cut out image from Mini Magnolia stamps. I colored with Copic markers, then added a button and bow. The words are from Impression Obsession.
On the cream colored card I distressed the edges a tiny bit with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. Then I layered the JustRite image on diecuts from the Nestabilities ovals. The image was colored with Copic markers. Seagulls are from Impression Obsession and a twine knot finishes the look. You could embellish with a small shell you find on the beach, or glue some real sand around the edges. Everyone will wish they were there having fun in the sun with you.
