8x10 Pocket Full of Fun Mini Book
My dad’s birthday is Memorial Day weekend. He will be 96, and doesn’t “need” a thing. So, a gift is always a problem. Then I thought, it’s National Scrapbook Month. Why not make a mini book for him featuring last year’s party pics. Everyone was dressed in red, white and blue. And flags were prominent. Here is the album I designed for him this year. Of course, you could make the same type album, but decorate it for the occasion of your choice.
1. Start with a 12″x12″ piece of card stock. Cut in half so that you have 2 pieces 6′x12″.
2. Score both pieces at 6″ and 6&3/4″.
3. Lay the 6″ square side behind the shorter side of the second piece and glue together. This forms a kind of box with both ends open.
4. Punch a 2″ circle or scalloped circle for the closure. Fold in half and apply glue to only one half of the circle. Adhere the glued part to the narrow side of the box matching the fold line with the fold of the box. Trim extra off the back. Insert a brad on the front side (the part of the circle not glued) to make it stronger.
5. Decorate inside and out with designer paper. I used BoBunny two sided papers.
6. Take 5 envelopes and fold the flaps towards the backs. With flap facing you, run glue along glued flap of envelope and attach it to the next envie. Add all envelopes this way until you have an accordion type stack. Adhere this to center panel of album inside.
7. Make insert cards 5&1/2″x4&1/4″ and place inside each envelope. I made tabs for the tops of mine for easy removal. I’ll place the photos on these inserts. And I can do some journaling on the side parts of the file.
Warning!!! This is addictive and easy to make. Now I want to do a seashore one, a zoo theme, graduation, pool party, birthday, gardening, and on and on and on! Paper and envelopes are available in our on-line store. Also, get some Scor-tape as it holds better than glue. And, have FUN!

So many have asked for directions for the Thanksgiving book I posted a few weeks ago, that I finally got things together. Here is the same book done in a Christmas theme and decorated with one of our vintage prints. You can order the prints at our on-line store or pick them up at the store in Lemoyne. The book is easy to make with a Scor-pal, but you can use a paper trimmer with a scoring blade, or a ruler with a stylus to score the lines before folding. Here are the directions. Call or e-mail if you have questions.

If you have been to Stamp Express or chatted with me, you know that one of my passions is mini books. Big albums seem to take so long to make and can become intimidating. Little books can be finished in one afternoon or evening. They are quite satisfying. And, they make terrific gifts. What a great way to share just a few photos with someone special. Start with a blank “Express Yourself” book from our on-line store. Add papers and photos, then finish off with a few embellishments. Every picture has a story, so remember to journal the prints you are including.
Below are two examples of themed minis. The double flip book records our trip to the Grand Tetons. The journaling is on the small flip up side while the photos are in the larger section. I put together the winter book when Bo Bunny sent me samples of their new winter paper. The pictures have not yet been taken, but the book is ready when the first snow falls. The double sided paper will be available on line and in our brick and mortar store in about a month. Of course, you could be making holiday books in the meantime. Enjoy!
